Dabbang 2 review

 Whenever you expect a sequel of an action movie to come up, you expect the following things from that movie

1. The same director, so that you once again get to take the same flavor that the original film offered.
2. The sequel should not be the exact copy of the first one so that the plot is not at all predictable.
3. The sequel should not forget the basis offered in the original movie.
4. The sequel should leave rather more lasting impact in our heart.
5. The sequel should fulfill the limitations that were there in the original film.
6. The story should be different from the original but the genre should be the same
7. Most importantly, the sequel should be freshly scripted and better than the first one..

Dabbang 2 could only fulfill the sixth expectation. It was quiet entertaining but still the original installment was better. To be honest, when I heard that Dabbang 2 will be directed by Arbaaz Khan rather than Abhinav Kashyap, and the fact that there will be three item numbers,  all my excitement automatically became bullshit. 

The story of Dabbang 2 starts with a child being kidnapped and then rescued by Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) who keeps the ransom money being demanded by the kidnappers. After that, the same old drama starts where Chulbul dances and sings to the tune of title song which is actually a deterioration of the previous movie’s title track.  And then the same old plot starts where the villain Bacha Bhaiya (Prakash Raj) is introduced as a corrupt politician who rules Kanpur along with his two brothers. One of them is eventually killed by Chulbul after he tries to forcefully take away the bride from her wedding ceremony. This gives rise for a battle filled of revenge and vengeance between Chulbul and Bacha Bhaiya. Later on Bacha Bhaiya tries to get even by pushing Chulbul’s wife (Sonakshi) from the stairs of a temple, the death of the embryo in her womb provokes Chulbul to kill Bacha Bhaiya and he eventually does it. The movie ends with Chulbul’s wife giving birth to a new child. 

The story is nothing but the same first installment with some minor changes.  The action sequences shown in the first installment were marvelous and enjoyable but this time, bollywood again proves that no matter how many masterpieces it creates, some directors still are comparable to animals whose tale cannot be straight. These sort of stupid scenes include the falling down of a jail due to Salman’s kick and Salman pushing down a postbox kind of structure down the ground. Arbaaz Khan was lucky that he got to direct the sequel of Dabbang, had he been directing the original, it would have been another golden Kela award nomination.

Salman Khan is my favorite actor too but I really wish he starts to give some decent movies by working with some decent directors. Where have the movies like Wanted, Tere Naam and Bodyguard gone these days. Directors continue to show the Be Sir Pair Ka action for which I really curse the south Indian film industry.
